If you want to flex your style muscle but can’t whip up the courage to go all-out vogue then start with a small accent piece. My favorite strategy is to toss in a mind-blowing ottoman into an otherwise subtle space. They’re small enough that they won’t freak out your eyeballs, but you’ll notice that it’s distinction adds depth and a level of visual interest.
Ottomans are as functional as they are aesthetic. They’re obviously comfortable for propping up your barkin dogs, but they also make great spillover seating if you’re having a party, and they make nice side tables. A tray on an upholstered ottoman is a great spot for your martini. Not that mine ever sees table top until it’s dead empty, but still a handy spot to free up my hands for round 2.
Here are 10 great Ottomans that will up your style cred. Many are available in other finishes and fabrics so you can somewhat customize to reflect your personal thang!

From Zentique, this ottoman has an aged natural oak leg and is upholstered in natural cowhide. Cowhide is uber glamorous and can be used in any type of space so don’t make the mistake of thinking it can only be at home in a rugged or cabin-style space.
This baby from Emporium Home is one of my all time favorites. Fluffy Mongolian Lamb on a silver frame that is hand-finished diamond shape studs. This also comes in white Mongolian Lamb on a gold frame.
This little teal guy from Stray Dog Designs is handmade from recycled materials and the outer cover is papier mache. But it really is sturdy enough to use as a table or a stool. It’s available in about 10 colors. There are a couple of other patterns and sizes in this collection that are equally as fun.
The detail of this round ottoman by Nathan Anthony Furniture is nothing short of stunning. This company offers a boat load of fabric options as well as the option to send them your own fabric.
Jennifer Charles is another company that puts a lot of thought into simple details that tell a big story. I think the oval shape of this is really interesting as well. And again, she offers a number of fabrics from which you can select or you can send your own fabric to the company for use on this ottoman.
Grace and Blake does a lot of work with acrylic. Acrylic is one of those materials that just keeps coming back into fashion and it’s never gone for long. It always makes for a fashion forward conversation piece.
This is a cool shape that is further defined by the nail head detail. The nailheads are available in other finishes if the antique gold isn’t your gig. By Gabby Home.
