10 Great Ottomans That Will Up Your Style Cred

If you want to flex your style muscle but can’t whip up the courage to go all-out vogue then start with a small accent piece.   My favorite strategy is to toss in a mind-blowing ottoman into an otherwise subtle space.  They’re small enough that they won’t freak out your eyeballs, but you’ll notice that it’s distinction adds depth and a level of visual interest.

Ottomans are as functional as they are aesthetic.  They’re obviously comfortable for propping up your barkin dogs, but they also make great spillover seating if you’re having a party, and they make nice side tables.  A tray on an upholstered ottoman is a great spot for your martini.  Not that mine ever sees table top until it’s dead empty, but still a handy spot to free up my hands for round 2.

Here are 10 great Ottomans that will up your style cred.   Many are available in other finishes and fabrics so you can somewhat customize to reflect your personal thang!

This little teal guy from Stray Dog Designs is handmade from recycled materials and the outer cover is papier mache.  But it really is sturdy enough to use as a table or a stool.  It’s available in about 10 colors. There are a couple of other patterns and sizes in this collection that are equally as fun.

Rustic Room Design

Rustic Room Design:  I typically follow a rule that too much of a good thing is too much of a good thing.  But a true rustic interior is my exception to that rule.   To achieve the warmth and comfort of a naturally aged space one has to really think about the authenticity of the finishes and textures.  It’s a great time to have fun with themed pieces and quirky antique accessories!   And keep in mind that back in the day, matching pieces were unheard of in most homes.   Enjoy the collecting and the collection!

Farmhouse chic room design

Farmhouse chic room design is one of the most fun and engaging styles of interior decor.  I like to start with a neutral base on upholstery and then add a mix of aged wood elements, metals and quirky accessories.   Bursts of color can come from accessories, decorative pillows, blankets and artwork.   This is a homeowner’s opportunity to hit antique markets and search for hidden treasure.   Almost anything can serve as an accessory or artwork if you have the right spot for it.

Room Design: Sultry, Eclectic Master Bedroom

Inspired room Design:  Still one of my favorite projects.  Lavender and gold with bursts of red and leopard print.  This master bedroom is sultry, sexy and sophisticated.  The shape of the custom headboard (fabricated by Divine Drapery in Atlanta) has ornate Baroque influences and the animal leg ottoman by Oly Studio is reminiscent of ancient Grecian styles.  Add Foo Dog lamps by Barbara Cosgrove and Chinese garden stools from Emissary and this space becomes a multi-cultural mosaic.    I can never resist Worlds Away tables.  These bold gold side tables never fail to make a statementBrimers 001 Brimers 002 Brimers 003
