Homage to The Hunger Games – Recycled Seat Belt Chairs

Who doesn’t remember the scene in the first installment of The Hunger Games when Katniss and Peta get a first glimpse of their living quarters at The Capital?   Two kids from the coal country of Appalachia walk into a world of opulence with more food than they’d seen in a lifetime, over-the-top furnishings and bling overload.   The dining chairs alone actually steal one scene.

But here’s the good news about those chairs.   They aren’t as unattainable as The Capital would have you think.  They are made by The Phillips Collection, a company headquarted in High Point, NC and known for their use of recycled materials, gorgeous live-edge wood pieces and art sculptures.   The chairs are actually fabricated from recycled seat belts making them very sturdy.   They are available in both indoor and outdoor varieties, a number of colors (just a few key colors shown below), dining chair and barstool styles, rockers and ottomans, and are surprisingly affordable for such an artistic piece of furniture.    The shape of these chairs transforms at every angle making them a stunning sculpture no matter where you move in a room.
